Ensure the Firearm Can Be Transferred into Maryland

Gunslinger's Guns will only transfer Maryland legal firearms to an eligible party. All firearms must be Maryland compliant. Maryland compliant handguns must be listed on the Maryland Handgun Roster (or be manufactured prior to 1985). Certain long guns including some AR style rifles are also banned in MD. Note: Any magazine capable of holding more than 10 rounds cannot and will not be transferred with any firearm.

Visit Gunslinger's Guns at Your Appointment Time

Visit our Frederick home-based FFL location at your scheduled appointment time and ensure you bring the following with you and are prepared to do the following:

Maryland Regulated Items – Handguns

  • Payment for the non-refundable transfer service fee (cash, debit card, credit card)
  • Valid Maryland Driver's License or DMV Issued Identification Card
  • Valid Maryland HQL license or exemption identification
  • Please start MSP form 77R online if you would like to save time
  • At our location you will fill out a Federal Form 4473 and initiate a new online handgun registration application

All handguns, per Maryland law, will be available for pickup on approved applications 7 business days from final application submission. You will get an email notice from the MD State Police.

Maryland Non-Regulated Items – Long Guns

  • Payment for the non-refundable transfer service fee (cash, debit card, credit card)
  • Valid Maryland Driver's License or DMV Issued Identification Card
  • At our location you will fill out a Federal Form 4473

Once your background check is approved you may take possession of your firearm.

Pick Up Your Firearm

Once your firearm is approved and any waiting periods have elapsed, you may pick it up. For long guns, this is typically the same day as Step 5. For handguns, Gunslinger's Guns will text and email you with a scheduling link. Per our Transfer Policy, you must pick up your firearm within 30 days of approval or a $2 daily storage fee applies. Failure to pick up within 60 days for any reason results in forfeiture of the firearm.

How do I know when my firearm arrives and how do I come get it?
Gunslinger's Guns will text and email you the same day your firearm is received with a quick and easy scheduling link. Customers can typically get an appointment the same day the firearm arrives!
What are your hours?
Gunslinger's Guns is a home based FFL with hours by appointment 7 days a week excluding holidays. Both day and evenings are available. When your firearm arrives you will get a notification via text and email with an appointment scheduling link the same day. Most are able to schedule an appointment for the same day the firearm arrives.
What are your Transfer Fees for firearms and regulated non-NFA items?
$30 Transfer Fee (non-refundable) + $10 MSP Fee for Handguns/Regulated Items. Card and cash are accepted.

Do you process MD Secondary Sales for handguns between two parties?
No, we recommend performing at a MD State Police Barrack.
Do you handle NFA Transfers including silencers?

How do I know if the gun I want to transfer is legal in MD?
MD compliant handguns are listed on the Maryland Handgun Roster (or be manufactured prior to 1985). If the handgun is not on this roster it is not legal in MD. Certain long guns including some AR style rifles are banned in MD. Please visit Maryland State Licensing Division to learn more.
Can I transfer a firearm that has a magazine that holds more than 10 rounds?
Any magazine capable of holding more than 10 rounds that accompanies a firearm cannot and will not be transferred with any firearm per MD Code Section 29.03.01.07 unless exemption identification is presented. If you purchase a firearm online that includes a magazine that holds more than 10 rounds, it is highly likely the seller will ship the firearm without the magazine and magazine is forfeited. If Gunslinger's Guns receives a magazine capable of holding more than 10 rounds during a transfer the firearm will be transferred, but the magazine will be forfeited to Gunslinger's Guns (no compensation is provided).
